e-Learning PPL(H) – Theoretical training for your helicopter license
Acquire the necessary theoretical knowledge for the PPL(H) theory exam flexibly and conveniently from home.
You determine your own learning pace.
- Receipt of learning materials
- After registration, you will receive all necessary documents in a printed binder.
Additional materials may be provided during the classroom lesson and can be added to the binder. - Self-study & use of the e-Learning platform
- Each subject is studied individually and completed step by step.
You work through the content independently using the provided materials.
Your progress is tracked on the e-Learning platform.
Before attending the classroom lesson, a pre-test on the e-Learning platform is required to qualify for the in-person module.
Attendance at the classroom lesson in Beromünster
A classroom lesson is mandatory for each subject.
A final test is conducted during this session.
If you pass the final test, HSA can register you for the official theory exam for this subject.
Admission to the theory exam
HSA registers you for the theory exam in all subjects where the pre-test has been passed.
Multiple subjects can be registered and examined at the same time.

e-Learning – Helicopter-specific subjects (Bridge) PPL(H)
The bridge course is intended for holders of a fixed-wing license who wish to obtain a helicopter license. In this case, only the helicopter-specific subjects need to be completed.
(Note: An e-Learning CPL(H) is not offered by HSA.)
Theoretical exam BAZL / EASA
BAZL exams take place every month at various locations in Switzerland. Any number of subjects can be taken on an exam day. A maximum of 18 months is allowed between the first and last theoretical exam.
If you fail one or more subjects, each subject can be repeated up to three times. After failing a subject three times, the entire theoretical training must be repeated. After passing the last exam, you have 24 months to complete the practical flight test (Skill Test), the practical radiotelephony certificate (VFR Voice), and the English language proficiency check (LPC).
